Myklops® Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy a Myklops® bicycle rear view mirror?

We believe that having a view to the rear whilst sharing the road with other users can only be a positive safety measure. Being aware and preparing yourself for overtaking traffic will help your confidence on the road. The Myklops is also a great tool for keeping an eye on your cycling partner, ensuring they are safe and still behind you, great for touring!

Where can I buy the Myklops® bicycle rear view mirror?

The Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror is available online direct from our shop and also from Amazon Prime in both yellow and black configurations. We are slowly building a network of retail outlets, please keep an eye on our stockists page and if you are interested in stocking the Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror, please get in touch in the contacts page.

Why does the Myklops® fit on the wrist and not the frame of the bike?

The Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror has been designed for practicality, convenience and safety. Having the unit mounted on your wrist means you only need one mirror, even if you own several bikes, great for all you fans of the ‘Boris Bike’. You will not see any vibration either as your body will absorb this. The mirror will not get snagged or broken when you stow or park your bike, plus there’s no chance of it getting stolen. The great thing about the Myklops is area of vision, as the unit is on your wrist you can make slight movements to capture a greater field of vision, not something you can do with a mirror fixed to the handle bars.

I can see how it works in the UK, but what about travelling abroad?

The Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror is ambidextrous; you can wear it on either wrist. The yellow base unit turns 360° degrees, so you can move the mirror to any position that suits you.

How do I adjust the strap to fit over winter clothes?

The strap has been cleverly designed to ensure the unit can fit over larger wrists and winter clothes. The main body of the mirror is fixed to the strap with a Velcro fastening, simply undo the Velcro, you can now make the loop with the buckle larger before fasting the Velcro together again.

How do I best position the Myklops® Bicycle Mirror using straight handlebars?

Check out the video on our Help and Info page. Essentially, when the Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror is on your wrist rotate the base unit so the hinge is in the 12 o’clock position. Now lift open the lid so the mirror is fully open and by placing your thumb and forefinger either side of the hinge pull gently to extend the internal arm. Once the arm is fully extended turn the mirror so it is at right angle with the unit. Now you can make final adjustments to suit your riding position. You can extend the mirror further by using the internal arm in the mirror housing.

Over time I have found the mirror unit has become a bit loose!

The Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror has been assembled for the optimum performance. Over time you may find the screw becomes a bit loose due to continual opening and closing. This can be easily rectified by using a 2.5mm Allen key, be careful not to over tighten as this may impact the way the unit closes properly after use.

I use my Myklops off road and it gets quite dirty, are there any special instructions for cleaning?

Use warm soapy water and a cloth, try and avoid strong detergents. Remember the strap can be completely detached from the mirror, so this can be easily cleaned too.

What other activities can I use the Myklops® Bicycle Rear View Mirror for?

The Myklops was initially designed for cyclists but since its launch it has become clear that there are endless possibilities for a rear view mirror – for wheelchair users, equestrian activities, kayaking, scooters, roller blading, paragliding, to name but a few. We have even had positive feedback from parents who wear a Myklops® Mirror whilst out pushing a pram!
